No visible change one month after Ultherapy. Should I wait longer?

After a month of waiting, an unchanged jawline can leave you wondering whether the treatment worked or whether you need more. Separate the time needed to assess results from concerns to raise with your clinic now.

QUICK ANSWER
  1. Little visible change at one month does not, by itself, establish that Ultherapy failed. Equally, nobody can promise that everyone will improve simply by waiting.
  2. If you have no new discomfort and want to assess the result, compare photographs taken under matching conditions and arrange a review with your treating clinician. The manufacturer describes visible changes at approximately three months.
  3. Some reviewers noticed a difference around or after a month; another reported almost no lifting after two months. Experiences with different treatment areas, combined procedures and observation periods are not equivalent outcomes.
  4. Worsening pain, new sensory changes or muscle weakness, and marked asymmetry need attention separately from waiting for a result. Tell your treatment clinic what started and when, and arrange an assessment.

Does no visible change after one month mean the treatment failed?

A date alone cannot establish failure. First distinguish the change you wanted: a more defined jawline or a feeling of firmer skin, for example. A fading sensation of tightness and no difference in before-and-after photographs are also different observations.

Ultrasound delivers heat beneath the skin to stimulate collagen formation, so the size of a change and the time it is assessed both matter. The UK manufacturer describes visible changes at approximately three months and advises assessing individual laxity and expectations. Use that information to arrange a comparison with your clinician, rather than treating it as a promise that waiting will work.

A Gangnam Unni reviewer described not noticing an effect until after the first month. The writer reported receiving 600 Ultherapy shots together with Rejuran. Their clinic was not established, and their experience is separate from the clinic examples in this article.

Marked edited on April 28, 2026, with a photograph labeled day 34. Rejuran was used alongside Ultherapy. This experience does not establish that improvement will necessarily appear later.

What is the difference between two to three months and three to six months?

Two to three months can be read as a suggested point for comparing visible changes, while three to six months describes follow-up periods used in studies. Neither guarantees that your own result will peak on a particular date.

Some research observed improvement at 30 days. A 2019 study of 20 participants treated one side of the face with microfocused ultrasound with visualization (MFU-V) and the other with monopolar radiofrequency. It reported improvement at 30 days maintained at 90 and 180 days. This small, split-face study cannot establish when every individual will notice a change. PMID 30531187

A 2014 retrospective study enrolled 48 women and assessed data from 16 participants at 90 days and 45 at 180 days. At 180 days, blinded photographic assessment classified 67% as improved. The different denominators prevent calculation of an increase over time, and the figure is not an individual's probability of success. PMID 24689931

The tight feeling after treatment has gone. Has the effect disappeared?

A feeling of tightness alone does not establish that an effect appeared or disappeared. Explain to your clinician when the sensation changed and whether your appearance changed as well; keeping those observations separate helps assessment.

The manufacturer's instructions list swelling, pain and sensory changes separately. Instead of using the immediate sensation as a measure of the final result, consider photographs and the course of any symptoms separately. If swelling or discomfort remains at one month, contact the clinic rather than waiting until the planned results review.

I cannot tell by looking in the mirror. How should I compare photos?

Match the angle, lighting and expression in your baseline and current photographs first. This helps avoid declaring either a lift or no change from photographs taken under different conditions.

Take front and profile views at the same distance, keeping the amount you raise or lower your chin consistent. Turn off filters and face-shape editing. Mention recent weight changes and other treatments at your consultation. The purpose is to help compare the same area in the clinic, rather than to diagnose yourself from photographs.

A Babitalk reviewer described taking photographs at similar angles after receiving Ultherapy and Thermage together. The excerpt below concerns the act of recording photographs; it does not establish how much either procedure contributed to the result.

Posting and treatment dates were not established. The body specifies 300 shots of Ultherapy PRIME and 300 shots of Thermage together. The list's treatment tag was not treated as proof of a single-procedure experience.

Should I expect the same change in my jawline, double chin and sagging cheeks?

Point to the area you want to change when explaining your concern. A slimmer face from less facial fat, lifted loose skin, a clearer jaw-to-neck boundary and a change in firmness describe different goals.

When reviewing photographs, start with the original area of concern. If your goal was jawline definition, a discussion limited to pores or skin texture will not answer whether that goal was met. If the nasolabial area or lower cheek fullness bothered you, ask how that location was included in the treatment plan.

Discuss the eye area, brows, forehead and neck as separate locations. A 'full-face' treatment does not automatically mean that every area was included: ask which areas were and were not treated. Descriptions of US indications are not presented here as equivalent to Korean authorization.

Other people noticed a change, but I still see none after two months. Should I just keep waiting?

Arrange a follow-up with current photographs and your original expectations, rather than repeatedly extending the wait. Another person's satisfaction does not explain your own result.

A Sungyesa post whose title described two months after 400 Ultherapy shots reported almost no perceived lifting. The writer distinguished a change felt for a few days from longer-term disappointment. Published in 2024, this is not a recent review; the clinic and objective outcome measurements were not established.

The American Academy of Dermatology describes relatively modest lifting and tightening from noninvasive ultrasound over two to six months. If you expected a surgical degree of change, revisit the original goal and current condition with your clinician. American Academy of Dermatology guidance

Did it fail because I only had 300 shots? Would more shots make a difference?

Before deciding on additional shots, ask which areas were treated and how the plan was designed. The total number paid for does not, by itself, explain which parts of your face were treated.

SeoulLeaguer Dermatology Clinic's public channel describes planning depth, energy and shot distribution according to skin thickness and sagging. Use that explanation to ask about your own plan, rather than interpreting it as a guarantee of effectiveness or safety.

Ask about shots allocated to your area of concern, the tips and depths used, energy adjustments and areas excluded. If you want to check authenticity and equipment, request the exact device model and information confirming the consumables used. A perceived lack of change alone is not evidence that the equipment or consumables were inauthentic.

What explanation should I receive when I return to the clinic about no change?

Focus on how the before-and-after condition is assessed, rather than simply whether another procedure is offered. Ask the clinician to review baseline and current photographs, the target area and treatment records together and explain whether the intended change occurred.

One clinic-published case describes dissatisfaction at one month followed by a later difference in photographs. The patient's treatment conditions cannot be assumed to match yours, so the case does not establish that everyone will follow the same course if they wait.

Which changes should prompt contact with the clinic rather than more waiting?

Tell your treatment clinic about worsening pain, new reduced sensation or muscle weakness, or newly noticeable asymmetry. Explain when it started and whether it is improving or worsening, and arrange an assessment.

Postmarketing reports in the instructions include burns or blisters, fat or volume loss, asymmetry and nerve-related changes. A list of reports does not establish the cause of your symptoms or their probability. Newly hollow cheeks or a change in movement when smiling should also be assessed separately from waiting for the intended result.

Can I have more Ultherapy or add Thermage because I see no effect?

Have the remaining concern assessed before choosing the name of another treatment. The discussion differs depending on whether the original result is still being evaluated or the change you expected differed from the treatment's goal.

If another treatment is proposed, ask about the target area, the problem it aims to change, why it is suggested now and the alternatives if you wait. A positive review of two devices used together does not establish the timing or benefit of an additional procedure for you.

The evidence available for this article does not establish a universal number of top-up shots or repeat-treatment interval. If pain or cheek hollowing worries you, arrange an assessment of that concern before paying for another procedure.

What should I ask during the consultation?

  • Can we compare my baseline and current photographs under the same lighting, angle and expression?
  • What has changed in the jawline, sagging cheeks or firmness that I originally wanted to improve?
  • Were the eye area, brows, forehead and neck each included?
  • How were the total shots distributed to the area I was concerned about?
  • Which device model, tips, depths and energy plan were used?
  • Can I see my treatment record and information confirming the consumables used?
  • How do recent weight changes or concurrent treatments affect this assessment?
  • I have persistent or new discomfort. Does it need an assessment first?
  • When should we take the next comparison photographs, and what will be reassessed if there is still no difference?
  • If you recommend another treatment, why now and what specifically would it target?

Different photo angles, weight or concurrent treatmentsMatch comparison conditions and tell your clinician about the differences

CONCLUSION

Decide what to compare before deciding how long to wait

One month without a visible change does not establish failure, and a promise that improvement will inevitably come later is not justified either. If you have no discomfort, arrange a review using matching photographs and treatment records. If you have new symptoms, have those assessed first. Decide on another procedure after receiving a specific explanation of the concern that remains.

Is no effect one month after Ultherapy normal?

One month alone cannot establish either normal progress or failure. Manufacturer information describing approximately three months and research observing improvement at 30 days both exist; have your current condition and any discomfort assessed separately.

Does Ultherapy always reach its best result at six months?

The evidence is not used here to claim that everyone peaks at six months. A study's 180-day follow-up and the manufacturer's selected result examples establish an observation time, which differs from an individual's peak result.

Can swelling after Ultherapy last for a month?

Tell your treatment clinic about swelling that remains at one month instead of assuming it is part of developing the intended effect. If symptoms are newly worsening, seek an assessment rather than waiting until the date set for comparing results.

Are 300 Ultherapy shots insufficient?

The total shot count alone is not used to determine insufficiency. Ask your clinician which areas received shots and how the tips, depths and energy plan were chosen.

If Ultherapy did not hurt, was it performed incorrectly?

A lack of pain alone does not establish whether treatment was performed. Distinguish your personal pain experience from the treatment record, and ask the clinic about the device, consumables and areas treated.

Will drinking more water and moisturizing improve Ultherapy results?

The material reviewed for this article does not establish that greater water intake or moisturizing increases Ultherapy's lifting effect. Follow skincare instructions, but do not treat these actions as a guarantee that replaces photographic assessment and clinical review.

My cheeks look more hollow after Ultherapy. Will waiting resolve it?

Have new cheek hollowing assessed at your treatment clinic separately from waiting for the intended result. Volume loss appears in manufacturer postmarketing reports, but that list cannot establish an individual's cause or course of recovery.
